THE IMPORTANCE OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Education is said to be the bedrock of any nation. So it becomes imperative that any nation or people that want to advance with the technology of this age must keep abreast and acquire education.
The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary defined Education as a process of teaching, training, and learning, especially in schools or colleges.
Education prepares one to be a professional in his or her area of specialty or calling. This is more so in Christendom where education is also important if one is to function effectively.
Apostle Paul in admonishing his son in the Lord in 2 Timothy 2:15 stated: “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
The general call that all true Christians received at conversion was the preparatory stage that helped to give shape to us as we grow in faith.
With time some were mightily used of God in the area of deliverance, healings and miracles hence the call of God becomes evident so the next move was to start a ministry.
Some of these ministers of the gospel don’t believe that there is a need for them to go to any Seminary or a Bible School to update their knowledge because God is using them tremendously.
I had an encounter with a minister of God some time ago; my advice to him to seek knowledge of Christian education in the Seminary or Bible School resulted in his objection of any such education. His reply was that the Holy Spirit will teach him.
In John 14:26 the scriptures categorically stated that “But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
His ignorance of the scriptures has made him to belief that biblical knowledge does not count provided one is anointed. From the above scriptures, his eyes were opened to know that the Holy Spirit will teach you and bring into remembrance of what you know and have forgotten.
The refusal of many ministers of God to acquire knowledge in the Seminary or Bible School just because they have the anointing has led many believers astray and into error.
So many ignoramus believers anchored their faith so much in their ministers most especially about all that they say without verifying if what was said is scriptural.
The assumption that they are men of God so whatsoever that comes out from them is of God has helped many to believe so much in some unscriptural teachings or doctrines from these men of God.
The body of Christ today must learn enormously from the Berean Christians. In Acts 17:11 it was recorded that “These were more noble than those of Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and SEARCHED THE SCRIPTURES DAILY WHETHER THOSE THINGS WERE SO”.
With this attitude of the Berean Christians who are sound scripturally through Christian education, it will be very difficult to deceive them with any teaching that is not scriptural irrespective of the anointing that the minister carries.
In Church history, great men of God like John Huss, John Wycliffe, and Martin Luther advocated that the Bible be translated into the common language of the people for them to understand it as they read. Before now the Bible was only in the hands of the priests and the nobles which helped in keeping the people in darkness until the reformation.
Value and create a time for study
Take time off to study the word of God
Never stop learning
Experience is overvalued
Be courageous and focus on your study
The emergence of the Great Reformation brought about enlightenment in the body of Christ.
The importance of Christian Education cannot be over-emphasized because it will help ministers of God in rightly dividing the word of truth.
For instance, an untrained minister of God is as dangerous as an untrained medical doctor.
God expects his children to be fed with His word undiluted, so it becomes expedient for His ministers to be well equipped, prepared and be used as a vessel of honor in the hand of God in fulfillment of their ministry in this end time through Christian Education.
