Bachelor’s Degree Requirements

There are 120 credit hours required to earn the Bachelor’s Degree. Transfer credits in Theology, Humanities, and other related subjects from other colleges may be used along with life experience, leadership seminars, and ministry experience to fulfill some of the requirements in each degree program.

Credits transferred must be comparable subjects to those required and offered by Bethel Christian University. Requirements for any degree must be approved by the Dean of Studies.

Purpose: Provides a solid foundation in biblical and systematic theology for ministry and teaching.

Bachelor of Divinity

Purpose: Comprehensive preparation for pastoral leadership and advanced ministry roles.

Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling

Purpose: Equips students to provide biblically based counseling and pastoral care.

Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education

Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry

Purpose: Trains students for general ministry leadership, preaching, and evangelism.

Bachelor of Arts in Chaplaincy Education

Purpose: Provides specialized training for chaplaincy in hospitals, prisons, military, and community settings.

Degree Requirements & Transfer Credit Policy

Bachelor’s Degree Requirements

  • Students must complete 120 credit hours to graduate.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Credits in Theology, Humanities, or related fields from accredited institutions may be transferred.
  • A maximum of sixty credit hours can be applied toward the degree.
  • Courses must be equivalent in content and rigor to Bethel Christian University standards.
  • All transfer credits require Dean of Studies approval.

Academic and Ministry Evaluation Process

  • Students may undergo an evaluation of prior academic work and ministry experience to determine credit eligibility.
  • Ministry experience must demonstrate substantial learning outcomes and practical application relevant to the program.
  • Evaluations are conducted by the Dean of Studies and may include interviews, documentation review, and competency assessments.

Examples of Acceptable Ministry Experience

  • Serving as a pastor, associate pastor, or church leader for a significant period.
  • Leading Bible study groups, discipleship programs, or teaching in church settings.
  • Organizing and managing missionary work or outreach programs.
  • Providing pastoral counseling or chaplaincy services in hospitals, prisons, or community settings.
  • Developing and delivering sermons, workshops, or ministry training sessions.
